Assessment Tools
Different types of screening tests may be used to assess your overall health status during your intitial consultation. They are also used to monitor the efficacy of treatment protocols going forward.
Biological Impedance Analysis (BIA)
BIA is a safe and painless test used to measure your body's electric conductivity and the ability of your cell membranes to hold an electric charge. A report is generated from the test findings which provides insights into aspects of your health such as your cellular health, energy level, fluid distribution, body composition and your biological age. BIA is included as part of your intiial consultation but can also be requested as a stand alone test.
BIA is most appropriate for people who want to:
- have a measurable benchmark of their well-being
- effectively manage their weight
- assess their muscle mass and overall fitness
- improve their energy levels from the cellular level
- ageing healthfully
Flora is one of a select group of healthcare professionals who has received extensive training in maximising healthy ageing and improving vitality using this scientifically validated test.
pH Test
pH Test is used to measure the acid/alkaline balance of fluids. Subtle changes to the pH of the body can have substantial impacts on a range of health conditions, including stress, bone density, pain, muscle mass and hormonal balance. Urinary pH is a good measure of the 'acid-load' within the body.
Questionnaires
Comprehensive Health Appraisal
Completion of the Health Appraisal Questionnaire will provide an insight into your health history, signs, symptoms and specific organ systems, thereby enabling the formulation of an appropriate assessment of your health status and individualised treatment protocol.
Cardiovascular Risk Assessment
The Cardiovascular Risk Assessment Questionnaire looks at all the known cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors including lipids, blood sugar levels and lifestyle factors such as smoking and exercise. In addition, it provides the opportunity to assess emerging CVD risk factors including inflammation, stress, elevated homocysteine levels and obstructive sleep apnoea.
Urinary Indican Test
The Urinary Indican Test measures the putrefaction (decomposition of organic matter by microorganisms) of protein in the gastrointestinal tract by dysbiotic bacteria. If the test results are positive, it suggests gastrointestinal toxicity as a result of dysbiosis and can be caused by:
- Intestinal overgrowth of anaerobic bacteria (dysbiosis)
- Intestinal mucosal permeability
- Protein maldigestion (poor digestion or excessive intake)
- Constipation
Zinc Tally Test
Minute amounts of zinc are needed by our body and deficiency can lead to problems with skin condition, immune function, infertility and other disorders. An Australian study found that 85% of women and 65% of men do not receive the recommended daily amount of zinc in their diets.
The zinc tally test provides a quick and reliable clinical test for the assessment of your zinc level.
